since 1901
History

It was 1901 when the son of the Prey winemaking family got married in Vienna. And every proper wedding needs a proper wedding present - we think - and his parents thought so too. In this case, it was a hotel in Vienna, on the Gürtel, the boulevard of the time. The hotel had a total of 8 floors and the largest wine cellar in the Hernals district.

A jewel of Art Nouveau and Art Deco architecture in a central location. The hotel near the city center quickly became a fixed meeting place in the district - it was even called "the little Sacher of Hernals" due to its good cuisine and friendly service.

During the turmoil of the Second World War, the turn-of-the-century building was severely damaged and was never able to recover from that terrible time. Over 40 years ago, our (in-laws) parents acquired the hotel on the Gürtel, having already run a very successful hotel on Mariahilferstrasse - Austria's largest shopping street. Now the biggest renovation in the hotel's history began - a major challenge: all rooms had to be equipped with showers and toilets, the hotel had to be adapted to current safety standards, the interior and the furniture were no longer up to date ...

After a few years of wandering, my husband and I continue to run the hotel as a family business, not forgetting its long hotel tradition since 1901. Today, our hotel in Vienna has 76 individually furnished non-smoking rooms with all the comforts of a dignified boutique hotel. 2 elevators take you to the floors. We try to retain the charm of the turn of the century, the tradition and the style of a Viennese hotel in all renovations and changes.
